There are over 19 million women in Canada living on low wages and are right at the poverty line. Closet Feminist wants to reach out to these women through development programs to support their needs.
Poverty is often due to the inability for women to gain jobs, whether it is due to discrimination or not having an education or set of skills that allow them to obtain high-paying jobs. Some may also be hampered by physical and mental handicaps that prevent them from getting good jobs. This is a serious problem. While there are women who live off social welfare assistance, this does not guarantee stable living. They will have little left to provide for their children and themselves.
Closet Feminist looks into ways to assist women. We provide training seminars to improve their skills and help them find sustainable means of living. We want a world where women and girls do not suffer from the effects of poverty.
